One of South Africa’s leading agency is looking for an experienced and resourceful Junior Digital Account Manager to oversee the day-to-day relations with our clients. The Account Manager will be responsible for collecting information on how to best serve clients.
Reporting to: Account Manager or Senior Account Manager
The primary role of a Junior Digital Account Manager is that of an administrative support role to the Account Manager (AM) and Senior Account Manager on any given account.
This position within the account management department holds the primary responsibility of overseeing the effective administration of an account from all perspectives.
The Junior Digital Account Manager is the hub of all account handlings and has mastered the responsibilities of a Senior Account Executive in a more senior role.
This person is also responsible for the prompt and accurate dissemination of information to all relevant departments within the agency as a support to the AM. As a client-facing member of the agency team, the Junior Digital Account Manager is expected to always show enthusiasm for the client’s business.
As part of the administrative process a thorough understanding of all accounts is to be understood with the idea to develop and grow into an AM position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produces a regular status report on each of his/her accounts ahead of the AM’s client status meeting. This needs to complete 24 hours prior to the meeting.
- Runs the daily stand-up sessions where the Junior Digital Account Manager is expected to run through all traffic entries pertaining to the account.
- Is responsible for organising client meeting and requirements thereof (e.g., booking rooms, catering, room layout, presentation aids, etc.)
- Perform day to day account management of administrative tasks which include, drafting a wide range of written and constructive material, co-ordinating events, maintaining client and media contacts, managing projects performed with and by others along with assisting interns below you.
- Records all client meetings accurately by means of a contact report, distributed within 24 hours.
- Assists the Account Manager in the production of all campaigns. A Junior Digital Account Manager should be at the point where full trust is built between the AM and the SAE to ensure well run and full management of accounts.
- Maintains a central filing system for documentation on the company filing system (Google Drive).
- Checks the quality of all work leaving the agency.
- Knows the workings of the agency outside the confines of account management.
- Manages time for optimum productivity and maximum profitability.
- Assists the account manager in anticipating problems before they arise, by addressing issues timeously.
- Updates the traffic manager as soon as any changes happen to the status of a job.
- Develops a reputation with clients and within the agency for total reliability.
- Answers all internal queries promptly – if you are unable to due to capacity/awaiting of relevant information, reply and give an estimated time of response.
- Shows enthusiasm for the client’s business.
- Regularly monitors competitive advertising and competitive product activity.
- Answers all client queries promptly, on the request of your AM – if you are unable to due to capacity at that moment, reply and give an estimated time of response.
- Demonstrates drive and commitment to produce outstanding briefs into the agency.
- Ability to communicate effectively with client and internal teams.
- Provides creative teams with necessary product examples and thought starters to assist generation of top-quality work.
- Shows thorough understanding of the task at hand and able to articulate the require task through a meaningful brief into the system.
- Works with creative teams to help produce the most relevant presentation materials for new work.
- Identifies opportunities when client needs more involvement/studio needs more insight before an issue arises.
- Makes an effort to watch competitive agency reels, and to read AdFocus and Marketing Mix, an/or any external communication to help self-growth and industry understanding.
- The Junior Digital Account Manager is required to fully understand the operational structure of each account through an understanding of the service level agreements (SLA) scope of work.
- Needs to possess excellent interpersonal skills.
- A hands-on experience needed to fulfil an integrated team approach.
- Demonstrates project management skills and ability to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality
- Develops a positive working relationship with client.
- Able to articulate thoughts, rationales and recommendations through this, the Junior Digital Account Manager should demonstrate an ability to pitch stories and find creative angles.
- Develops and strengthens good relationships with key media contacts; proactively makes and nurtures new contacts, shares these with the team.
- Handles all media reporting with the guidance of the AM on the account and the sign off of the AD.
- Continually seek new ways to learn, improve and contribute towards the growth of your account and the business.
- Exhibit a sense of curiosity about client work and seeks more information and knowledge in response.
- Routinely seeks and shares information with colleagues while looking for new ways to develop their clients brand reputation.
- A Junior Digital Account Manager should be finding ways to push thinking and creative ideas for their own personal growth and that of the business.
- Continually seeks new ways to learn and improve.
- Builds account administration skills including budgeting and cost-management.
- If working to a retainer – the Junior Digital Account Manager needs to understand the SLA and hours allocated for all departments, and effectively work towards optimal servicing of the account. I.e., managing hours and not going over allocated hours.
- Understand the need to achieve billable targets as directed by the account team.
- Develops an awareness of account management issues; flags problems and offers early solutions.
- Understands and manages billing and activity reporting processes.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in Digital Marketing, Strategic Communication, Brand Management or related field.
- Proficiency in project management tools.
- Prior administrative, Digital Marketing or client services experience within an agency may be strongly desired.
- A professional and friendly demeanour.
- Have a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
